Torrance Aikido Club’s first Ki Class in 2018 was held on February, 21st . instructed by Chinn Sensei, Chief instructor of Southern CA Ki Society.
Ki Class is not only focused on techniques, strength or weakness, but focus more on learning how to coordinate our mind and body.
The ultimate purpose of our study is to unify mind and body and become one with the Universe. The Ki Classes help us moving forward to the goal. Thank you Chinn Sensei!
Sally Sensei from Minnesota had been joining to our practices for few months, and also joined to the Ki Class. She used to live in Torrance long years ago, and was a member of Torrance Aikido Club. Thank you for visiting us!

Happy New Year! Torrance Aikido Club brought in the New Year with our Kagami Biraki ceremony on January 8th.
Chinn sensei, now the advisor of Southern California Ki Society, blessed the dojo, then leaded the students for Misogi bell chanting. After the ceremony, Chinn sensei introduced Young sensei as Head Instructor of Torrance Aikido Club.
The class ended with sushi, tea, pastries and other goodies. With Young sensei, Torrance Aikido Club is moving forward in 2018 !
On December 9 – after the first day of the fall seminar, So Cal Ki Society members and friends came together at Lazy Dog restaurant in Torrance. In this time, we were not only enjoying the delicious meals and drinks, but also celebrating Chinn sensei’s retirement from Torrance Head Instructor position.
Chinn sensei has served more than 50 years to the Aikido community as well as So Cal Ki Society and Torrance Aikido Club. His skill, knowledge, leadership, sense of humor and genuine concern for each of the members help to keep connecting the Aikido community together.
We are greatly appreciate his contributions, and express our gratitude and admiration for being our sensei. From next year, Chinn sensei won’t be teaching at our regular classes, but he has kindly agreed to stay with us as the adviser and Chief Instructor of So Cal Ki Society and Torrance Aikido Club.
Thank You, and Happy Retirement Chinn Sensei !!
