Torrance Aikido Club members and their families came together for the Christmas party on December 16.  The members enjoyed conversations, delicious meals, and drinks!

Also, we celebrate Chin sensei’s birthday. We thank his dedication for teaching us Aikido and its spirit and wish him health and longevity.  Happy Birthday, Chinn sensei!!

Virtual Ki-Class with Chinn sensei (7/13/20)

Hello Torrance Aikido Club members.

We hope you and your family are doing well. This is a tough time for all of us. Please be safe and healthy.

Since we don’t know how long this current condition will continue, we take this is as an opportunity to learn more about Ki principle.  The Virtual Ki classes with Chinn Sensei is the best way to learn and discuss Ki.

Since May, we already have had the virtual Ki classes five times.  The attendees were not only from the Torrance area, but also from Santa Barbara, Las Vegas, and Seattle.  This is the benefit of the virtual.

Thank you for all attendees to the classes.  Thank you Juan to coordinate the Zoom meetings.  And most of all, thank you Chinn sensei for sharing your valuable knowledge about Ki principle and Aikido.

We all look forward to joining the next Ki class!

Aikido practice in the park (6/28/20)

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we still don’t know when we can go back to the Dojo to practice again. But for Torrance Aikido members, still with “keep distance” in mind, we started “Aikido practice in the park” from Sunday, July 28th.

We were happy to see each other again face to face, and enjoyed practicing under the sky.

Let’s practice Ki Breathing and Relax Taiso!

Hello Torrance Aikido Club members.

We hope you and your family are doing well.  This is a tough time for all of us.  Please be safe and healthy.

Due to Covid-19, our dojo will be close down for a while.  In the meantime, you can always practice Ki Breathing and Relax Taiso to keep you calm.

For practicing the Relax Taiso (Oneness Rhythm Exercise), you can learn from the following link is on our website as below:

Oneness Rhythm Exercise

For practicing Ki Breathing, the below link is helpful, which is one of the Maui Ki-Aikido online classes with Curtis Sensei recently on 03/20/2020.  Maui Aikido is also temporarily closed now.

Curtis Sensei explained the 5 principles of Ki Breathing from Tohei Sensei:

  1. Exhale gradually with ease.
  2. Exhale with the smallest sound possible
  3. Exhale gradually from head to toes.
  4. Inhale from the tip of your nose
  5. Calm yourself at one point.

Because this is a tough time for all of us, let’s keep ourselves calm, and stay safe and healthy.
